Today's "German" lesson

Don't put off going shopping (particularly for things like umbrellas) in a place where it rains. Often.

(In Hambug's defense - and I suppose my own - the first two weeks I was here the weather was fabulous. All to lull me into a false sense of weather-security, I suppose. This is where my Californization was my undoing, because in California, if it's sunny one day, it will likely be sunny for the next 159...)

Turning Cathy into a ?:

I fail to understand why exactly you find yourself so drawn to blogging. I randomly happened upon this site after happening to accidentally notice it over your shoulder in class earlier this week. Your excessively self-obsessed blog-ruminations reflect upon the imminently insecure person I and many of my international colleagues have come to be acquainted with since your arrival at Bucerius.

I'm not sure if this comes off as a bit harsh but you should really re-evaluate how you decide to present yourself to the outside world. You unfortunately come off as exceedingly self-important, arrogant, and domineering. There really is no reason for you to artificially commandeer 15-20 minutes out of every class.

A great many of us would appreciate it if you would take a lower-profile role and realize the value that other people have in the world -- you're not the only one with a cerebrum running around in Hamburg these days. It would serve you well to realize this.

Koichi:

...and you learned nothing while you were in Boston, where if it's sunny for two days in a row, it's a heat wave?

To readers in general - if the above comments look out of sync, it's because neither author could see either comment until I approved them both, which happened at the same time (just now).

To Koichi - Yeah, but I spent the summer in California and I think it reset my Bostonian instincts.

To my anonymous "fan" - if you were daring me to delete your comments, you will be disappointed. However, if you insist on posting the same comment elsewhere on my site I will delete it like I would any other comment spam.

If you want to ask me, in person, why I blog, I would be happy to tell you why I find this such a meaningful activity. However, if you would prefer to abuse me anonymously then don't expect me to consider your opinion worth worrying about.
