Would this happen in Boston?

At a party at school Friday night a student lost a 50 euro note from her pocket. This weekend she put out an email asking if anyone may have found it.

Today someone returned it to her.

Nice place, Bucerius.

Well, no, because no one would be carrying around a 50 euro note, or a $50 bill. Who has a 50? ATMs only spit out $20s. Anything more, and most people use their credit cards. I think if there was a $50 bill lying around Boston, most people wouldn't know what to do with it. They couldn't buy something with it - they'd probably be under suspicion for being a dealer of some sort. I'd probably frame it, like it was a $2 bill or something.

(On the other hand, I'm used to withdrawing $4-500 in cash in Japan. I have two credit cards, but I never use them - right now it's mostly for money management, but gosh, can't remember the last time I felt comfortable using a credit card.)
